Asha Kumari is Congress candidate from Dalhousie in the upcoming Himachal Pradesh 2017 elections. A veteran in the party, she was made in-charge of Punjab by the party last year.
A founding member of National Student Union of India(NSUI) - the student wing of Congress, Asha Kumari has also served as minister of state for primary education between 1995 and 1998 and education minister in Himachal between 2003 and 2005.
The career of the 62-year-old has also seen several charges of corruption against her. Asha Kumari was sentenced to one year in prison in a land-grab case. She later got relief from the high court.
She will be taking on Dhavinder Singh.
