New Delhi: In the wake of a sudden spurt in swine flu cases from across the country and deaths being reported in the first two weeks of January, the Centre on Saturday cautioned that there was no need to panic over the situation.
“We have to be cautious, alert about it but need not to get panic,” Union Health Minister JP Nadda said.
He also said that the hospitals have got all the facilities and that the health ministry is ready to tackle the situation.
The minister appealed that if a patient is found with any symptoms of swine flu, he/she should be admitted to the hospital as soon as possible.
On Wednesday, a 51-year-old woman from Ghaziabad died of multiple organ failure at Delhi's Ganga Ram hospital after testing positive for swine flu, as per reports.
Also, five persons treated for swine flu at a major state-run hospital in Hyderabad have died since January 1.
In addition, two people had died of swine flu in Lucknow in last four days. Following which, an emergency meeting was called by Lucknow district magistrate Rajshekhar late Friday wherein he asked health officials to sensitize people on the disease, especially in areas where patients had been reported from.
A 55-year-old woman in Punjab, who was tested positive for swine flu on Saturday, has been admitted to a hospital due to her deteriorating condition.
