New Delhi: AIIMS, a symbol of hope for the ailing million Indians! AIIMS has now become a household name with people from all strata of society looking up to it to provide unbiased, affordable and quality healthcare.
But a matter of grave negligence and inefficiency has come to the fore. Be it doctors' apathy or our health system's failure to give patients timely treatment, even the top most hospital of India fails in certain scenarios. According to an exclusive report, a patient from Bihar has been given an operation appointment date of 2 January, 2021.
The patient named Amarjeet hails from Bhagalpur, Bihar and both his heart valves are in a damaged condition. After a lot of struggle, he finally came to AIIMS with a glimmer of hope. The solution to this medical problem offered here is an operation but shockingly it has been scheduled after 6 years. Had he been a VIP or a person of high repute, things would have been different. But for the common man, the system's insensitivity remains unchanged. Nothing can be more ironic and if I must say laughable than this. It is very obvious that Amarjeet won't survive for six years and even if he does, will his wait be worth all those years of physical suffering?
Faced with such a condition, Amarjeet and his parents have no other option than to turn towards a private hospital paying a hefty sum of money.
