One more person has succumbed to swine flu in Kashmir, raising the toll due to the H1N1 virus to nine, while 67 more patients have tested positive for the virus, health officials said here today.

Srinagar: One more person has succumbed to swine flu in Kashmir, raising the toll due to the H1N1 virus to nine, while 67 more patients have tested positive for the virus, health officials said here today.

"One more patient infected with swine flu virus has died, taking the toll to nine. However, the patient had multiple co-morbidities (Acute Mycloid Leukamia) as well and may have died of those ailments," SKIMS spokesperson Kulsoom Bhat said here.

She said the number of patients infected with the virus has risen to 358 even as 67 more patients have tested positive.

"While five more patients have tested positive for the virus from among the samples taken yesterday, 62 positive cases have been found from a total of 72 pending samples which were positive for Influenza A and the reports of which were awaited due to shifting of the laboratory," she said.

The official said five fresh samples were taken today for testing from 100 patients who were seen at the special OPD of the hospital.

She said the number of patients, infected with swine flu, admitted at the isolation ward of the hospital was eight.

"Six patients were discharged in the last 24 hours," Bhat said.
