New Delhi: A team of researchers at Sydney's Garvan Institute of Medical Research in Washington D.C have found that a special type of fat that probably kept our ancestors warm may help in protecting against diabetes.

The researchers have measured blood glucose and brown fat activity continuously in study participants and found out that individuals possessing more brown fat had smaller fluctuations in blood sugar. These findings pave way for fresh avenues for diabetes therapies that target brown fat.
