41 new swine flu cases reported from Uttar Pradesh

Forty one new cases of swine flu surfaced today taking the total number of people affected by H1N1 virus to 808 in Uttar Pradesh, where 16 people have died so far due to the disease.

"Of the 41 new cases, 37 are from Lucknow and one each from Bareilly, Unnao, Jaunpur and Shahjahanpur districts," a health department official said here.

With this, the number of H1N1 virus patients has surged to 808 in the state, the maximum of 645 having been reported from the state capital, where leave of all the health department officials has been cancelled, he said.

A total of 1,910 patients were screened, out of which 808 were tested positive while 16 persons have died so far in the state, the official said, adding, the deadly virus has affected 25 districts.

Eight deaths have been reported from Lucknow, three from Bareilly, two from Kanpur, one each from Saharanpur, Unnao and Badaun districts.

Chief Medical Officer (Lucknow) SNS Yadav said that of the total 645 patients reported from the state capital, over 500 have recovered.
