 Around 15 lakh children aged between 0 to 5 were administered polio drops in 13 districts of Haryana today.

 Chandigarh: Around 15 lakh children aged between 0 to 5 were administered polio drops in 13 districts of Haryana today.

The children were administered the drops on the first day of a three-day campaign under Sub-National Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization round, a spokesman of the Haryana Health Department said.

The children who were given the drops today constituted about 57 per cent of the targeted 26 lakh children to be covered during the three-day campaign.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Cabinet Minister Rao Narbir Singh and Bahadurgarh MLA Naresh Kaushik inaugurated the campaign in Kurukshetra, Gurgaon and Jhajjar, respectively, by administering the polio drops, the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said the 13 districts are Ambala, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Jhajjar, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Mewat, Palwal, Panchkula, Panipat, Rohtak, Sonipat and Yamunanagar.

He said a total of 10,636 booths were set up for the exercise.

He said the children who were not given the drops today would be covered on November 17 and 18 by teams visiting houses.
