Ahmedabad: The Gujarat government is likely to file chargesheet against Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) convener Hardik Patel in a sedition case on Friday.

Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi had earlier told a bench headed by Justice JS Khehar that the state police has prepared the chargesheet and placed its draft before the court.
The bench, however, refused to examine the chargesheet and asked the state government to file it before trial court by January 8.

It said that the court would examine the chargesheet and would find out whether offence of sedition is made out against Patel on January 14.

The court also directed the state to supply the copy of chargesheet to Patel immediately after it being filed in lower court.

Meanwhile, Hardik Patel, who is in jail since September in two sedition cases, has accused the BJP of using Patels as a votebank.

In a letter sent to Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel, the jailed quota agitation leader had even questioned whether she belonged to the community.
