Cabinet expansion in Goa after Ganesh festival

Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar Saturday said the state cabinet's expansion and reshuffle had been postponed and would be held after the Ganesh Chaturthi festival.

Panaji: Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar Saturday said the state cabinet's expansion and reshuffle had been postponed and would be held after the Ganesh Chaturthi festival.

"We have decided to expand the cabinet only after Ganesh Chaturthi festival. Whatever decision we need to take regarding the cabinet would be taken only then," Parsekar said today.

He had earlier said that vacancy created by the resignation of Fransisco Miccky Pacheco -- who has been convicted in an assault case -- would be filled before the Ganesh Chaturthi festival which begins on September 17.

He had also hinted at reshuffle of portfolios.

Pacheco's conviction and six months' sentence for slapping a junior engineer was upheld earlier this year by the Supreme Court, following which he quit on April 3.
