Shivpuri: Raising the poll pitch for the upcoming General Elections, Bharatiya Janata Party`s (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the Congress party, saying that India needs a `sevak` for its people not an arrogant government.

Targeting Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia for cancelling an award ceremony after realising that Gujarat has bagged the top awards, the Gujarat chief minister said, “Congress leaders are arrogant. I think it is the Congress trait that has made him arrogant.”
“Congress` one point program is how to establish the `son` (party vice-president Rahul Gandhi). Nation is secondary for them only the son`s career must be safe,” he added.

Assuring development in this region, Modi appealed to the mass, “Rajmata Scindia ji`s blessings have been with us. Make BJP win here and I take responsibility of development in this area.”

Meanwhile, praising the Shivraj Singh Chouhan-lead BJP government in the state, Modi said, "Shivraj ji built more roads, contributed to power & irrigation in 10-yrs as compared to 50-yrs of Congress rule."

Modi also highlighted the concern shown by the MP CM for the farmers, saying that the MP Chief Minister was worried as if there was suffering in his own family and cancelled party rallies to reach out to the hailstorm-affected farmers.

He further accused the Congress-led UPA government of discriminating against his party-ruled states, saying while the Centre swiftly compensated hailstorm-affected farmers in Maharashtra, it was not done in case of Madhya Pradesh.

"Farmers in both Maharasthra and Madhya Pradesh were affected by hailstorm, but why was this discrimination? Since you have a Congress government in Maharastra, you released more money immediately, while the MP Chief Minister had to compensate the farmers from the state coffers despite the fact that the state`s farmers were more affected," Modi said.

Earlier in the day, Modi in Gandhinagar today claimed that Congress would not reach a double-digit tally in any of the states in Lok Sabha elections this time.

"This would be perhaps the first election after the independence, the first instance of post-independence era, when not a single candidate of Congress party would be elected from some states," the BJP`s PM candidate said.

While addressing a rally of party workers before veteran BJP leader LK Advani filed his nomination from Gandhinagar constituency, Modi predicted, "There won`t be a single region or the state where Congress will be able to reach double digit. They will not get even ten seats in any of the states."

Congress will face its biggest rout since the emergency, Modi claimed, adding this time "people have decided the verdict in advance".

Asking cadres to work for Advani`s victory, he asked them to focus on each and every booth. "I will rather be happiest if we win at every polling booth," he said.

Modi later accompanied Advani to the election authority`s office for filing the nomination.
