BJP must disclose whose money it is using for campaign blitz: Sharma

Union minister Anand Sharma criticised BJP for supporting a new concept of "individualism and dictatorship" by projecting a single face in the ongoing Lok Sabha polls, and alleged that about Rs 10,000 crore was being spent on Narendra Modi`s campaign.

Jaipur: Union minister Anand Sharma on Friday criticised BJP for supporting a new concept of "individualism and dictatorship" by projecting a single face in the ongoing Lok Sabha polls, and alleged that about Rs 10,000 crore was being spent on Narendra Modi`s campaign.

Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Sharma alleged Modi has been spending Rs 10,000 crore on advertisement on TV channels, newspapers, hoardings, placards, rallies and IT gadgets, and said "BJP should tell the nation whose money it has been using and what is the ratio of black money in it".

Addressing a press meet here, he said any move to individualise and make a person dictator would weaken the democracy and a single man cannot give strength to the nation.

Referring to BJP`s claims of `Modi tsunami`, Sharma said, "I rejects BJP`s claim of success as there is neither any Modi wave, nor any tsunami... If there is a tidal wave, then it would create devastation, destruction and grief for the people in the country..."

He said Modi was making misleading remarks to tarnish the image of Congress in his election speeches which the Congress had condemned at all level in a polite way.

"The century-old Congress cannot leave its politeness and culture behaviour, whereas Modi has no tolerance power... egoistic, and hate and hardness reflect on his face... No politeness in his voice and thinking...No sweetness in words...Probably no one has seen him smiling...By all means he wants to grab the power... Modi should read history as arrogance or ego of Aurangjeb and Britishers was broken in the past," Sharma said.
Refuting Modi`s remarks that Congress brought "pink revolution", Sharma said there was no subsidy on export of meat and the PM candidate was making false statement to incite tension in sensitive places of Bihar and UP.

"There is total ban on cow slaughtering, and meat of buffaloes being exported even in Rajasthan and Gujarat... It was done in previous NDA government. It was most unfortunate that Modi talked of such false and fabricated things in Yadav dominated belt of Bihar and Gujjar dominated area of Uttar Pradesh," he said.

"People should understand Modi`s intention when he speak or spoke of pink revolution... His thinking is most unfortunate. He should think for the country... Even former PM AB Vajpayee never made any hurting statement," he said.

On BJP`s election in-charge of Uttar Pradesh Amit Shah`s statement on Muzaffarnagar riots, Sharma said he (Shah) was teasing the wounds and trying to flare up sentiment by making false allegations.

Taking a dig at Gujarat model of development, Sharma said, "This development model will be a disaster for the nation as it will not bring any development in any area or sector."

Criticising the Gujarat government over development, he said that "in education, Gujarat stands at 17th position in the country, in malnutrition it counts 44/1000, school dropout rate is 27/1000, and in power generation Gujarat has gone down from sixth to 10th position... Many other states are better in the field of investment".

"It appears that Modi`s history, geography and mathematics knowledge is limited. He is sick of making tall claims and promising false assurances... Modi never answered any starred question in Gujarat Assembly... Opposition MLAs are used to be suspended so that he could pass any bill or business without any hurdle... Phone-tapping of a woman and officers was already exposed," he said.

Hailing UPA I and II`s good governance and transparency in the system, Sharma said due to the National Manufacturing Policy Act, the growth rate has risen from 16 to 25 percent.
Over 14 crore people were brought out of poverty during the UPA rule and per capita income has gone up drastically, he said, adding that the BJP had copied Congress`s manifesto and forgot many points and schemes that Congress has already implemented or in pipelines.

On a question why Congress did not give reply to false propaganda of opposition BJP or Modi, the Union minister said, "We do agree that we have to follow the rules and patients of an incumbent government. We could not be aggressive but better defensive... Now Congress is ready to give every reply to the opposition".

The Congress`s poor communication with voters and public at large was one of the major drawback that led to its defeat in the last year`s Rajasthan Assembly polls, he said.
