Patna: Politicians, administrators and film personalities Thursday came together to express concern over growing pollution of river Ganga and called for stopping it.

Bihar Transport minister Brishen Pate, senior BJP leader and former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi, Environment and Forest secretary of Bihar Dipak Kumar Singh and Bhojpuri actor-singer Manoj Tiwari were part of a "samvad" (dialogue) on poor condition of Ganga.

The dialogue was organised by hindi general entertainment channel "Life OK" as part of its "Mahadev Ganga Mahotsav".

They deliberated on issues like sewage management, construction on the river banks and wildlife conservation.

Modi presented a macro picture on the issues concerning river Ganga and called for freeing it from pollution.

Dipak Kumar Singh spoke about environmental condition that was impacting the revered river.

B K Mishra, an expert on Ganga voiced his concerns over the physical condition of ganga and how it impacts the people of Bihar.

Sunil Chaudhary of the Dolphin conservation project shared his work and vision related to dolphins which are a major part of the marine wildlife in the the state.

Bhojuri actor-singer Manoj Tiwari and Surendra Pal, who is part of the most popular show
"Devon ke dev..Mahadev" participated in the dialogue.

Shailendra Ojha, creative director of Life Ok said "Mahadev Ganga mahotsava is aimed at mobilising public opinion towards issues surrounding river Ganga."
