New Delhi: Delhi Anti Corruption Branch (ACB) chief Mukesh Kumar Meena on Friday wrote a letter to Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung, raising legal issues in the deployment of officers from Bihar in his unit.
"I have raised certain legal issues. If a police force of one state is deployed in another state, it requires orders of the Central Government under provision of Section 3 of Police Act 1888," Meena told the media here.
As per sources, Meena, in his letter, has sought an answer from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on whether it issued the order pertaining to the transfer of the police officers from Bihar, noting that if this were not the case, it would foul of the Police Act. He further called for the ministry to suggest a further course of action.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government in Delhi had earlier decided to hire six officers for the ACB from Bihar, with reports stating that one Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and five Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors will be joining the body soon.
However, Jung had raised objections to the same, saying that no appointment can be made in the ACB without his nod, with the MHA also backing the Lieutenant Governor.
