New Delhi: A 22-year-old man was found dead with a gunshot injury in his head in his house in Gokulpuri area of North East Delhi on Saturday morning, police said.
The deceased, identified as Gopal, was found dead at the third floor of his house with a gunshot injury in his head and throat slit, police said adding his family, which was on the ground floor, claimed they did not know anything about the incident.
"Gopal`s relatives told us that on Saturday morning when they visited his room on the third floor, they found his body lying in a pool of blood on his bed," said a police official.
There was a religious function close to the deceased`s house last night. After attending it, Gopal came home, had dinner with his relatives and went upstairs to sleep where he was found dead in the morning. The house has only one entry gate that was closed in the night, police said.
"We suspect that the assailants entered the house using the terrace while the family members of the deceased are also under the scanner," a police official said.
Gopal is survived by his father, two sons and three daughters. His one daughter is missing and a complaint has been filed with the local police in this respect while two others have got married. He had been living in the area along with his father and two sons.
Police said they also have suspicion on Gopal`s brother-in-law with whom his sister had a love marriage.
"The deceased was not on good terms with his brother-in-law who has some past criminal record. We are investigating the case from all possible angles," the official said.
An FIR of murder has been lodged in this respect, police said.
