Kejriwal Govt shielding corrupt Cong leaders, alleges BJP

Accusing Arvind Kejriwal government of shielding former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and her ministers in Commonwealth games scams, BJP on Firday said it will submit "evidence" of corruption against the Congress leaders to Delhi Lieutenant Governor on January 23.

New Delhi; Accusing Arvind Kejriwal government of shielding former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and her ministers in Commonwealth games scams, BJP on Firday said it will submit "evidence" of corruption against the Congress leaders to Delhi Lieutenant Governor on January 23.

The opposition party has set up a high-level committee of six experts to collect and put together evidence of alleged mishandling and embezzlement of funds by the previous Delhi government. The Committee is headed by BJP National Legal Cell in charge Pinky Anand.

"A delegation of BJP leaders will hand over these evidence to Lieutenant Governor of Delhi. The BJP will ask LG to direct Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to take action against former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit who was involved in Commonwealth Games Scam," former Delhi BJP chief Vijender Gupta told reporters here today.

The announcement was made at a joint press conference here today which was also attended by Delhi BJP President Vijay Goel and senior party leader Jagdish Mukhi.

The BJP leaders also accused AAP of forgetting their main poll plank of corruption after coming to power.

"AAP had fought the elections with the motto to investigate corruption with focus on the Commonwealth games. The then Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and several officers were involved. But after coming to power, they have ignored the issue completely," said Goel.

Recalling that Kejriwal had asked leader of opposition Harsh Vardhan to give proof of corruption against Dikshit, Gupta said, "He is saying that he has no proof of Congress leaders` corruption in Commonwealth games and BJP should give the proof if it wants action against corrupt Congress leaders including the then chief minister Sheila Dikshit.

"So we have decided to submit this evidence to the LG."
Upping the ante, Goel alleged that during the elections, AAP had themselves compiled a 700-page report regarding alleged corruption in the Commonwealth Games.

"They had also filed a criminal complaint. So did they prepare the report without any evidence?" he said.
