DU rejects RTI plea seeking info on PM Narendra Modi's BA degree

New Delhi: Delhi University has rejected an RTI plea seeking information on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's bachelor of arts degree.

According to a report carried by ToI on Thursday, the RTI plea had sought information related to PM Modi's BA degree, which was turned down by the Delhi University, citing inability to find information without a roll number as the reason for its refusal.

Interestingly, the plea was accepted by the Central Information Commission (CIC), which has dismissed the case.

In his election affidavit, PM Modi had claimed that he completed a distance education course from DU in 1978. His subject is said to have been Political Science.

However, this is s not the first time that details of Modi's educational qualifications have been sought, and denied, under RTI.

Earlier, Gujarat University had refused to divulge information related to the PM's masters degree, saying that the marksheet and other details were personal information.

Later, an RTI plea was also filed with the PMO seeking info on his MA degree. It was also rejected because authorities said that they did not have the information.
