New Delhi: The District Magistrate of Etawah, who suffered serious injuries after his head hit the surface of a swimming pool in Saifai on Saturday, has been shifted to AIIMS Trauma Centre.

Doctors at AIIMS said that Vidya Bhushan was admitted to Neuro-surgery department of AIIMS Trauma centre on Sunday afternoon.

"His condition is stable. His cervical spine has fractured at C1 (first vertebra). However, as of now, no operation will be performed on him and we are looking at conservative management to treat him", a doctor attending on him said.
Conservative managment means treating back pain, neck pain and related spinal conditions by physical therapy and medication, without doing surgical procedures.

He was immediately taken to the Intensive Care Unit of UPRIMS (Uttar Pradesh Regional Institute of Medical Sciences), but later was rushed to AIIMS, Delhi by an air ambulance after his condition deteriorated.
