New Delhi: Lone Janata Dal (United) MLA in the Delhi Assembly Shoaib Iqbal, has reportedly quit his party and is likely to join the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
A news agency reported him as saying that he was most likely to join AAP.
"I want to join AAP, let us see if they agree. Things will be clear in a few days," Iqbal was quoted as saying.
"I met the Chief Minister today and expressed my willingness to join the party. I have received a positive response and I may join the party in the next two days.
"Since I am a lone JD(U) MLA, there should not be a problem in joining the party as it would not invite disqualification under the anti-defection law," Iqbal told.
Iqbal had voted in favour of Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government during the trust vote in Delhi Legislative Assembly.
Notably, Iqbal had also threatened to withdraw support to AAP government seeking a public apology from AAP leader Kumar Vishwas` over his controversial remarks on Muharram.
