New Delhi: The national capital territory on Monday became the first state to withdraw permission for FDI-funded retail stores.
The Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government has written a letter to to the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) on not allowing FDI-funded stores.
It was Kejriwal`s predecessor Sheila Dikshit, who had okayed FDI in multi-brand retail in Delhi.
The states that allow FDI funded stores include Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka.
Notably, Kejriwal had been opposed to FDI in retail and this was a major part of AAP`s election manifesto.
