New Delhi: Addressing the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Tuesday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that he is confident about making Delhi one of the top five cities in the world in the next five years.

While addressing the media, Kejriwal said that his government wants to promote and encourage business because that will generate employment in private sector.

“In five years I want Delhi to be in top five cities of the world. I'm confident that we will be able to achieve this goal,” he was quoted as saying by ANI.

Speaking about the water issues of Delhi, Kejriwal said that the city will have to find a solution for water on its own.

“Yamuna's water level rises during rainy season and we are unable to save it. Solutions need to be implemented in this regard,” he said.

He further added, “Solid waste management is another concern which needs to be met. We need to use mechanised sucking machines for cleaning the city. For this, we are planning decentralisation of funds, so that problems at colony-levels can be sorted faster.”

On other issues of Delhi, he said that his government is encouraging people to work with honesty and it is confident that things will change slowly.

“Traffic jams are a big problem in Delhi. We are writing to police commissioner if we can do anything to help the cops in finding a solution to this issue. Moreover, as I'm a great believer in human resources, education and health are two things we want to focus on apart from corruption. Besides this, for women security we will deploy marshals in a month or two in every bus in Delhi. This will help maintaining discipline in the buses,” he said.

However, when the AAP convenor was asked about the ongoing rift in his party, he refused to comment on it.

“No I will not like to talk about that right now, lets talk of governance in Delhi. I will not like to answer any question on my party matters right now. I came into politics to change face of nation, lot of my time goes into fixing Delhi. I don't have time for this. Your channels try and get their TRPs up by talking about all this, please continue. I have other things to focus on,” he was quoted as saying by ANI.

His response to the media drew a round of applause from CII.
