New Delhi: Days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched 'Clean India' campaign across the country, the Home Ministry on Saturday issued instructions to ensure cleanliness in police buildings and other complexes.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh instructed Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi to ensure that the police stations and other complexes are cleaned within a week.

Bassi was also asked to monitor the cleanliness drive in the police buildings.

The Home Ministry will make surprise checks after the expiry of a week's deadline given to ensure cleanliness in all police buildings and complexes, a tweet by Home Ministry stated.

Modi had launched the 'Clean India' campaign on October 2 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

Wielding the broom himself, Modi had launched the 'Swachh Bharat' campaign near India Gate.
