New Delhi: As the decline in air quality is fast turning Delhi into a 'gas chamber', a spiritual guru who is popularly known as 'environment baba' is set to conduct a 'yagna' at the end of a campaign which he believes will improve the situation in the national capital.

According to NDTV, Mahamandaliya Sri Sri 1008 Anant Vibhushit Avdhoot Baba Arunagiri Maharaj, who is due to reach the national capital soon, has designed an automated chariot to create awareness about factors affecting the environment.

Baba Arunagiri Maharaj began his 'Yagya Harit Padyatra' from Vaishno Devi, which will conclude in Kanyakumari.

Interestingly, senior RSS figure Indresh Kumar is helping the baba in his campaign.

The Rishikesh-based monk claimed that a special specie of medicinal herbs grown in Himalayas thrown into a "yagya" fire is what Delhi needs to control particulate matter.

"Through the 'yagya', the 'parmatma' gets his fill and keeps the environment clean. It keeps all the 33 crores gods happy,'' he added.

In support of his claim, Baba said, ''Japan too had a 'yagya' to control earthquake. It can also treat ailments like chikungunya. It has been proven scientifically that 'jadi-bootis' sourced from Himalayas can kill pollutants."

Arungiri Maharaj will be seen in Delhi streets soon with his mobile 'rath' reminding people that solution to the modern problem lies in tradition.
