New Delhi: Ex-Aam Aadmi Party leader Yogendra Yadav has said that the Arvind Kejriwal-led political outfit knew that former Delhi law minister Jitender Singh Tomar possessed fake degree.

Categorically refuting Kejriwal's claims, Swaraj Abhiyaan leader Yadav said that the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was fully aware of Tomar's fake degree, but did not conduct an enquiry.

Yadav, who was expelled from AAP earlier this year, further said that when he was associated with the political outfit he had raised the issue of fake degrees of number of candidates, but no action was taken.

Yadav's comments come after Kejriwal last week broke his silence over Tomar's fake degree issue and said that he was kept in the dark. “I was shown wrong documents,” Kejriwal had said.

A probe is on into the case of Tomar and if he is proven guilty, he would be given the punishment, assured Kejriwal.

We will not tolerate any wrongdoing, no matter what. We are not relatives of any minister. Hence, we accepted Tomar's resignation, said Kejriwal.

Kejriwal also said that as soon as he got to know about the truth, he made Tomar resign from his post.

Tomar, an MLA from Trinagar constituency in Delhi, was arrested on June 9 following a probe into the complaint by the Bar Council of Delhi that he had obtained a fake law degree from a college in Munger, which was affiliated to Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University (TMBU).

Tomar is currently in jail in the fake degree case. Police have slapped a case of cheating, forgery and conspiracy against him.
