New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Vinod Kumar Binny, who is reportedly miffed with his name being dropped from the list of probable cabinet ministers, on Wednesday denied any rift within the party and claimed that he is not upset with the party high command`s decision..
Speaking to the media today, Binny tried o play down reports of a rift within the party over his non-inclusion in the cabinet. "I am not upset with the party. There is no rift within the party," he said.
He added, "I haven`t spoken to Arvind (Kejriwal) as there was no occasion to talk, but will go to him when it is needed."
Further dismissing reports of him being upset over party`s decision to exclude him from the Cabinet, Binny said that he left from party leader Arvind Kejriwal`s residence to attend a marriage function and by the time he came back it was already midnight. "Later, I addresed the media persons and cleared the air," he said.
Binny had rushed out of Kejriwal`s residence, triggering speculations of him being upset for getting a Cabinet berth.
"For the last few days, Kumar Vishwas wanted to have `kheer` at my place, so I decided to invite him late night itself after coming back from the marriage function," Binny said when asked why senior party leaders leaders lined up at his residence late night.
Binny said that party might have decided different role for him, adding, "we are not here for any Cabinet berth, but to serve people."
Binny, 40, defeated top Congress leader and former health minister AK Walia, from Laxmi Nagar in the recent Delhi Assembly elections.
Earlier, reports suggetsed that the two-time Independent councillor was upset over the party`s decision and not to give him any Cabinet berth.
Kejriwal on Tuesday held consultations on government formation and the party named its ministers.
The AAP sent the names of six ministers - Manish Sisodia, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Somnath Bharti, Rakhi Birla, Satyendra Jain and Girish Soni to Lt Governor Najeeb Jung.
The AAP staked claim to form the government in Delhi after the BJP decided against it. AAP won 28 seats, the BJP 31 and the Congress eight in the December assembly polls.
AAP was born out of the anti-corruption movement in 2012.
