Raipur: At least seven persons were arrested for vandalising a church, attacking worshippers during Sunday prayer in Raipur in Chhattisgarh.

According to NDTV report, the men were traced through the three motorbikes they left at the venue after attacking the church on Sunday afternoon. They were arrested on Sunday night.

Around 25 men, allegedly belonging to Bajrang Dal outfit, launched an attack on the church on Sunday. "They shouted 'Jai Shree Ram' slogans and accused the church members (apparently priest) of converting people from different religions to Christians," one of the eye-witnesses told ANI.

 

The attackers not only roughed up men and women but also attacked the children present during Sunday prayer. According to another eye-witness, one of the men tore up the women's clothes and knocked a 2-year-old child on the floor.

Around 65 worshippers were present at the venue at that time. "The men soon fled away after learning the arrival of police at the place", Arjun Pannalal, president of Chhattisgarh's Christian Forum told reporters on Sunday.
