IED expert held in Chhattisgarh

An improvised explosive device(IED) expert of the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist) who was wanted in several cases, was Tuesday arrested in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, police said here.

Raipur: An improvised explosive device(IED) expert of the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist) who was wanted in several cases, was Tuesday arrested in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, police said here.

Hapka Sanno (30), a native of Pendorma village of the region, was nabbed by the Central Reserve Police Force`s (CRPF) 85th battalion from the Cherpal forests under Gangaloor police station, Bijapur DSP Sukhnandan Rathore told PTI.

"He is an explosives expert of the banned outfit and was active in the South Bastar region," the officer said.
Allegedly, he played a crucial role in making IEDs to harm security forces in the region, he said.

A CRPF team, which was combing the?Gangaloor region, located around 450 km away from Chhattisgarh`s capital Raipur reached near the Punjer rivulet near Cherpal, when they spotted the Maoist cadre fleeing into the forest, after which the team nabbed him, said Rathore.

A couple of batteries and wire were recovered from his possession, he said.

He is allegedly wanted in four cases, including murder, attempt to murder and attacks on the police, the DSP said, adding that he is being interrogated.
