Raipur: Security forces have recovered a powerful directional mine planted by naxals in Chhattisgarh's Maoist-hit Kanker district.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Border Security Force (BSF) and district force recovered the directional mine containing around 20 kg explosives yesterday from dense forests under Koyalibeda police station limits, a senior police official told a news agency.
Security forces had launched a search operation based on specific inputs into Koyalibeda forests, located around 250 kms from here.
While cordoning off a patch between Koyelibeda and Udanpur road, they spotted a directional mine, planted by naxals to harm security personnel during their operations in the region, he said.
Subsequently, a Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) reached the spot and destroyed the explosive, the official added.
