Court directs filing of FIR against Chhattisgarh minister

A local court directed the Anti-Corruption Bureau to register an FIR against Chhattisgarh minister Ajay Chandrakar in a disproportionate assets case.

Raipur: A local court Wednesday directed the Anti-Corruption Bureau to register an FIR against Chhattisgarh minister Ajay Chandrakar in a disproportionate assets case.

Special Judge (Anti Corruption) of the court in Dhamtari district M D Jagdalla ordered the Superintendent of Police, Economic Offence Bureau/Anti Corruption Bureau, to register the FIR against Chandrakar, an ACB official here said.

The court ordered the SP to submit the copy of the FIR by April 21.
Last October, RTI activist Krishna Kumar had filed a petition in the special ACB court complaining that Chandrakar had amassed wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income during his tenure as a minister from 2003-08.

In December, the court sent the complaint to the SP, EOW-ACB with a direction to investigate and register FIR if necessary within three months.
