Raipur: Inclement weather forced the Raipur-bound plane of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to be flown back to Jagdalpur in Bastar district Sunday evening, which delayed his departure to Delhi by a couple of hours, a top official said.

As the weather cleared up later, the Minister was again flown from Jagdalpur to Raipur, where the plane landed safely.

From Raipur airport, Singh then left for Delhi by another plane at around 7.30 pm. He was earlier scheduled to leave for Delhi at 5.25 pm.

"After concluding his visit to Bastar, Singh flew along with Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh from Jagdalpur in the state plane to Raipur," Principal Secretary to CM, Aman Singh said.

However, a few minutes before the plane was to land at the Swami Vivekanand Airport in Raipur, the pilot announced that due to bad weather, he will have to divert the flight to Jagdalpur, he said.

"But the flight again took off from Jagdalpur after weather got cleared up and the Union Minister landed safely at Raipur," Aman Singh said, adding that subsequently he left for Delhi through flight at around 7.30.

Rajnath Singh has been on a two-day visit to Chhattisgarh since yesterday, during which he attended a number of programmes in Raipur and the naxal-affected Sukma.
