Chennai: As Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalaithaa continues to be in Apollo Hospital where is currently undergoing treatment, her party AIADMK's 45th foundation day celebrations turned out to be a low-key affair. on Monday

According to reports, AIADMK presidium chairman E Madhusoodanan garlanded AIADMK founder MGR's statue and hoisted the flag at the headquarters in Royapettah in Chennai.

A souvenir was also released on the occasion.

However, the celebrations were entirely a low-key affair. In the morning, the worried cadre and functionaries thronged the party headquarters along with ministers including O Panneerselvam, Dindigul K Srinivasan, Edappadi K Palaniswami and Sellur K Raju.

There were no banners on the arterial roads and no decorations.

The fans also did not burst fire crackers, which usually accompanied the visit of the party chief in the past. Also, there was no distribution of sweets.

Many AIADMK functionaries said they would not celebrate Diwali this year.

Meanwhile, Jayalalithaa's fans continued to search for latest information regarding Chief Minister's health on social media sites as there was no update regarding the same this week.

Though neither Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa's party nor doctors have shared updates on her health, state police has warned that it will tolerate no loose talk..

It is believed that a team of cyber experts is tracking, identifying and punishing those posting rumours or misinformation regarding Jayalalithaa's health on social media.

At least 50 criminal cases have been filed in the last few weeks and eight people have been arrested, including two men who worked at a bank in Coimbatore for spreading rumours regarding Jayalalithaa's condition.

Jayalalithaa, 68, was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Chennai on September 22 when her party said she had fever and was dehydrated.  But doctors later confirmed that she's on respiratory support with a lung infection.  A UK specialist has flown down three times to supervise her treatment. A trio of doctors from Delhi's AIIMS hospital also travelled to Chennai to check on the Chief Minister.
