Patna: As Bihar is set to plunge into election next month, a pre poll survey conducted by Zee Media Group predicted a win for the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance.

According to the survey, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), along with its allies appears to have an edge over the grand alliance.

The grand alliance comprises of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Janata Dal (United), Congress and Janata Dal (Secular).

For the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections Jitan Ram Manjhi's HAM, Ram Vilas Paswan's Lok Janshakti party (LJP) and Union minister Upendra Kushwaha's Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) have joined hands with BJP as part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

The pre poll survey indicates that 50.8 percent electorate is expected to vote for NDA, while 42.5 percent for grand alliance and 6.7 percent will opt for Others.

The survey says, the Modi-powered NDA will bag 140 Assembly seats and the grand alliance will secure 70. The remaining 33 seats will witness a close contest and it is hard to tell which side would be the winner.

What may go in favour of the BJP, is the 41.2 percent of the Muslim population which is expected to vote for the NDA, while 52.4 percent of the minority community will go with the grand alliance-led by Nitish Kumar.

The poll survey further predicts Hindus to vote in majority for the BJP-led alliance. 52.6 percent Hindus are predicted to vote for the NDA, 40.8 percent will opt for the grand alliance and Others will get 6 percent.

The survey also predicts a close contest for the Yadav votes. BJP-led alliance is expected to win over 47.8 percent Yadav votes, grand alliance 47.5 percent and Others 4.7 percent.

Furthermore, the women voters in Bihar also want the Modi-led NDA. 52 percent women electorate is expected to go to NDA, 40.5 percent to Nitish-led alliance and 7.5 percent will opt for Others.

Assembly elections in Bihar would be fought in five phases between October 12 and November 5 in a high-stakes battle, seen as a major popularity test for the NDA spearheaded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and incumbent Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who was in alliance with the RJD and the Congress.

Polls to the 243-seat Assembly would be held on October 12, 16, 28, November 1 and 5. The term of the current Assembly expires on November 29.

There are over 6.68 crore voters in the state, of whom as many as 2.04 crore voters belong to the age group of 18 to 29 years.
