New Delhi: The Janata Dal (United) today said that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal supports his Bihar counterpart Nitish Kumar and wants him to return to office for the third time.

"I want to say this on record that Kejriwal ji wants that Nitish Kumar should become the Chief Minister of Bihar," JD (U) general secretary K.C. Tyagi told ANI.

"Kejriwal had earlier the urged people of Bihar to vote for Nitish Kumar in his own Summit in Delhi," he added when asked to comment on Kejriwal's remark that he was not supporting any party in Bihar.

Tyagi also said that Nitish couldn't attend the Chief Ministers meet called by Kejriwal due to his prior commitments.

Kejriwal had yesterday said that he was not campaigning for any political party in Bihar.

"I am not supporting anyone in Bihar. There was a governance workshop that was organised by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar before the elections were announced. I had gone for that workshop and I am not campaigning for any political party in Bihar," he said.

Elections for the 243-member Bihar Assembly will be held in five phases between October 12 and November 5.

The counting of votes will take place on November 8.

The term of the current Bihar Assembly expires on November 29.
