Bihar Health Minister Tej Pratap Yadav threatens journalist, Lalu jumps to defend son

Patna: Bihar Health Minister and Lalu Prasad Yadav's son Tej Pratap Yadav kicked up a controversy on Tuesday, when he publicly threatened a news channel reporter.

The incident happened when Tej Pratap was attending an event with his father and younger brother and Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Yadav to celebrate 20th Foundation Day celebration of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).

While the programme was on, the Health Minister asked a media person to hand over his still camera to him. However, after taking the camera the Bihar Minister started clicking pictures.

As the Bihar Minister was clicking the pictures, one of the reporters started taking pictures of him on his mobile. This enraged Tej Pratap and he asked the media person to delete the stills. However, the reporter refused to budge.

To this, the minister got furious and publicly threatened to file a defamation suit against the reporter.

The mediapersons, who were covering the event took objection to Tej Pratap's behaviour and threatened to boycott the event.

Seeing the situation going out of hand, Lalu intervened and enquired about the issue. He then called the reporter and asked him to delete the video. However, the scribe refused and walked down from the stage.

At the end of the event Lalu called the reporter on the stage and asked him to shake hands with his son and end the issue.
