Winds of change are blowing in Assam, BJP's lotus will bloom in state: Smriti Irani

Nalbari: Union Minister Smriti Irani said on Monday that the wind of change was blowing in Assam and that BJP's lotus would bloom in the state.

Addressing a rally here, she said, "Jandhan Yojna has been a revolutionary scheme. Almost 20 crore accounts opened," as per ANI.

"Will people deposit money in bank accounts on appeal of Gogoi ji or other Congress leaders? No. Public knows everything," Irani added.

Irani also came down heavily on the Tarun Gogoi government, alleging that atrocities against women had increased in Assam during its tenure.

"There have been 75,000 cases of atrocities against women (in Assam) during the last ten years. Attacks against women have increased under the corrupt Congress government. Tarun Gogoi has downgraded the status of women in Assam. There is only goondagardi and no development," Irani said, as per PTI.

She exhorted the party workers to fight the "ghamandi" (arrogant) Congress in the coming election for bringing about change. "Each of you pledge today to make Assam Congress-free and take it on the path of development."
