Assam CM Tarun Gogoi urges PM Modi to release funds from DoNER Ministry

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Tuesday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to initiate necessary steps for immediate release of funds from the DoNER Ministry.

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Tuesday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to initiate necessary steps for immediate release of funds from the DoNER Ministry.

In a letter to Prime Minister Modi today, Chief Minister Gogoi said the state government was yet to receive Rs 118.51 crore despite submission of Utilisation Certificates (UCs) amounting to Rs 2195.01 crore.

The DoNER Ministry has not sanctioned projects from the priority lists of 2014-15 though the state has already submitted Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) of 19 projects against 20 retained projects amounting to Rs 296.17 crore, Gogoi said.

The State Government has completed 373 projects out of the 619 sanctioned projects under Non Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) amounting to Rs 2643.81 crore with fund utilisation being 83 percent.

"As completion of the projects now under different stages of implementation being crucial for the development of the State, non-release of funds on a timely basis not only hampers the progress of these vital projects but also leads to cost overruns," he said.

The Chief Minister requested the Prime Minister to issue necessary instruction to the DoNER Ministry for streamlining the process of release of funds on priority basis.
