Kadapa: Students of the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) here agreed to withdraw their stir over the alleged suicide by a fellow student after an assurance this morning from the district collector that a magisterial inquiry would be held into the incident.
Third year Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) student Krishna Mohan had committed suicide in his hostel room yesterday over alleged harassment by one professor Lavanya and doctor Kishore.
Following the suicide, students at RIMS had held a sit-in protest in front of the RIMS main gate with Krishna Mohan`s body as they demanded action against the culprits.
Prior to that, police had prevented the students from walking to the collector`s bungalow at midnight as part of their protest over the suicide.
The district collector had, however, allowed a delegation of 10 students to meet him and assured them that a magisterial inquiry would be ordered into the suicide.
Following the assurance from the district collector, the students allowed police to complete formalities.
However, once the post-mortem was completed, the students organised a procession along with the body inside the RIMS campus.
The bodyu was later sent to the deceased student`s native place at Nandalur.
