The Main line, Harbor line, and Western line train services running between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Thane, which were disrupted due to heavy rains in Mumbai, have been resumed. All the officers and employees of the railway are taking prompt action to ensure that the passengers do not face any kind of inconvenience, says Railway Minister Piyush Goyal.

Train services have been severely hit in Mumbai due to incessant rainfall since Tuesday. The Western, Central Railways have diverted, rescheduled or cancelled the trains plying on the route. Due to heavy downpour, the state government too has declared a holiday for schools and junior colleges.

A six-year-old child was found dead on Thursday after he fell into an open gutter in Mumbai's Nala Sopara area. The incident occurred as several drains in the area were opened due to torrential rainfall happening in Mumbai and suburbs over the past two days.

Rainfall in Mumbai's Santacruz crosses 3,000 mm mark on Thursday, September 5. Santacruz witnessed 3078.2 mm of rainfall till Thursday morning while Colaba recorded 2162.2 mm rainfall. The respective record rainfall marks were crossed earlier in 2010 for Colaba and 2011 for Santacruz.

217.4 mm rainfall recorded in Mumbai on Wednesday from 8:30 am to 8:30 pm, the second-highest rainfall recorded in the ongoing monsoon season in Mumbai. Earlier, Mumbai witnessed a record rainfall of 375 mm from July 1-2, the highest of this monsoon.
