New Delhi: Those who have booked the Reliance JioPhone will have another reason to rejoice, as Voice calling will be free for life while unlimited data packs will cost Rs 153 a month on the device.
The pre-bookings for the much awaited JioPhone started at 5.30 pm on Thursday (August 24).
JioPhone, that was unveiled at the Reliance Industries AGM on 21st July 2017 is available to customers at an effective price of zero, ie, effectively free.
Customers are required to pay a fully refundable, one-time, security deposit of Rs 1,500 against every JioPhone to avoid potential misuse.
The deposit will be refunded after 36 months on return of the phone.
JioPhone will be physically available to those who have pre-booked, on a first come first serve basis from September onwards.
The company will make available 5 million phones every week and manufacture all JioPhones in India from "last quarter of this year", Ambani had said indicating that the phones are made by a vendor outside the country.
