Galaxy Note 8 sales hit 1 million units in South Korea

Seoul: The sales of Samsung`s Galaxy Note 8 smartphone in South Korea have reached 1 million units in a little over a month`s time after the device hit local shelves, industry data showed on Thursday.

The South Korean tech giant started official sales of the 6.3-inch phablet on September 21, selling 850,000 units through preorders, which kicked off a week earlier, Yonhap news agency reported.

The figure eclipsed numbers for the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7, which managed to draw in 380,000 preorders.

Samsung said it also plans to add the gold-colour edition (in South Korea) to the Galaxy Note 8 products starting on Friday, which is currently available in black, blue and grey in the country.

Galaxy Note 8 is priced at 1.09 million won ($979). The device costs nearly Rs 68,000 in India.
