SONGSAK: Home Minister Rajnath Singh today hit out at the Congress-led government in Meghalaya over the killing of a candidate ahead of the assembly elections, saying there is no law and order in the state.

Referring to the killing of NCP candidate Jonathone N Sangma, his personal security officer and two party workers in a bomb explosion yesterday, Singh said he was deeply hurt by the incident.

He said if there is no law and order, there can't be any development in the state.

The minister was addressing a public rally here in the East Garo Hills. "A local NCP candidate died in IED blast and I am deeply hurt by it.

I pay my homages to those who died. It shows there is no law and order in the state," he said. Meghalaya is going to polls on February 27.
