New Delhi: Stock markets opened in green on Wednesday with the NSE Nifty regaining the 10,700 level.

However, minutes later, the equity indices turned negative. The 30-share index was trading lower by 33.42 points, or 0.09 percent, at 35,345.18. The gauge had gained 114.19 points in the previous session.

On the other hand, the Nifty edged lower by 8.60 points, or 0.08 percent, to 10,691.30.

Asian Paint, ITC, Heromoto Corp, Tata Steel, Yes Bank, TCS, Infosys, Tata Motors, Adani Ports, ONGC, Vedanta and Bharti Airtel were among the top index losers, shedding up to 1.91 percent. On the other hand, Sun Pharma, Power Grid, Reliance, HDFC, Bajaj Auto, Maruti, HUL and HDFC Bank, rose up to 1.67 percent.

Asian stocks slipped on Wednesday on the spectre of a Sino-US trade war ahead of an end-of-week deadline for U.S. tariffs on $34 billion worth of Chinese imports while the yuan stabilised after China`s central bank moved to calm nervous investors.

MSCI`s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan edged down 0.2 percent, a day after it hit a nine-month low. Japan`s Nikkei lost 0.7 percent.

Mainland Chinese shares dropped, with CSI300 Index off 0.85 percent.
