Maharashtra: Seven girls among 13 detained by police from resort

The police have seized the music system and speakers from the party and a car.

Nashik: The police conducted a raid at a five-star resort in the Igatpuri tehsil of the district in the early hours today and detained 13 persons, including seven girls, from a party which was being held there, an officer said.

Igatpuri police station in-charge Sanjay Shukla said the raid was conducted at Rain Forest, a five-star resort in Badayduri village, located around 30 kms from here.

"The party was busted and thirteen persons, including seven minor girls, were detained. They were allegedly dancing in an obscene manner under the influence of alcohol," he added.

A case was registered against those detained under various sections of the IPC, including section 294(a) (obscene act in any public place) and 294(b) (singing, reciting or uttering any obscene song, ballad or words, in or near any public place), Shukla said.

They were also booked under the provisions of the Bombay Police Act, he added.

"The action was taken by the Igatpuri rural police on a tip-off. Those detained have been sent to a government hospital for medical examination," Shukla said.

Those detained include Prashant Sondkar (27), Vishwas Sondkar (45), Gangadhar Shinde (42), Anant Bhakare (51) -- all directors of a private company -- Vasant Sonavane (38) and Prathmesh Sonavane (20).

Another accused, Umesh Shevale, managed to flee from the spot, the police said.
