Jhanjharpur registered 57.24 percent voter turnout in 2019, a gain of 1.11 percent. The total number of electors in the constituency is 1850672 while the total voter turnout is 1059349. While in 2014, the constituency registered 56.13 percent voter turnout. The total number of electors in the constituency was 1650203 while the total voter's turnout was 926210.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha election, Birendra Kumar Chaudhary, of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) – won by getting a margin of over 55 thousand votes. He had defeated Mangani Lal Mandal of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). Chaudhary had secured 335481 votes while Mandal got 280073 votes.
