Jayalalithaa-led AIADMK juggernaut rolled on Thursday getting a simple majority with the Chief Minister bucking the anti-incumbency trend and retaining power in Tamil Nadu for a second consecutive term, the first time by anyone in the last three decades in the state.

When last reports came in, Jayalalithaa was leading by over 15,000 votes in Dr RK Nagar constituency in Chennai. Her arch-rival and DMK president M Karunanidhi retained his Tiruvarur constituency by a huge margin of more than 65,000 votes.

Karunanidhi's son and DMK treasurer M K Stalin was leading by more than 15,000 votes in Kolathur.

All the results have been declared in Puducherry and the DMK-Congress alliance has registered victory in the Union Territory, defeating the ruling All India NR Congress (AINRC).

According to the Election Commission, the Indian National Congress won 15 seats and DMK 2, taking the alliance tally to 17 - one more than the 16 required to form government in the 30-member Puducherry Assembly.

AINRC, on the other hand, could manage to win only eight seats while AIADMK won four.

One seat was bagged by an Independent candidate.

AINRC, on the other hand, has won 7 seats and is leading in 1.

AIADMK has won one seat and is leading in one more.
