Kolkata: 14 members of Muslim family allegedly converted to Hinduism

The workers of the Hindutva outfit also attacked journalists at the event after they tried to speak to the members of the family.

KOLKATA: As many as 14 members of a Muslim family were allegedly converted to Hinduism at an event in Kolkata. The incident reportedly took place on Rani Rasmoni Avenue at Dharmatala locality.

The conversion was reportedly done by Hindu Samhati. The workers of the Hindutva outfit also attacked journalists at the event after they tried to speak to the members of the family. 

The outfit organised a rally to mark its 10th anniversary.  The speakers at the event also allegedly made incendiary comments, said a report.

Three persons have been arrested in connection with the attack on media incident. Tapan Ghosh, founder of Hindu Samhati is being examined by the police.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has condemned the incident.

Set up in 2008, Hindu Samhati is a 'non-political organisation for Hindu Solidarity against Islamic Aggression in WestBengal'.
