SHIMOGA: As part of his party's 'Jan Aashirwad Yatra' in the poll-bound state of Karnataka, Congres president Rahul Gandhi will hold rallies and public meetings in Chitradurga and in Ramanagara districts on Wednesday.

The Congress chief took to Twitter and announced his schedule for today.

''Our #JanaAashirwadaYatre continues today in Karnataka with public meetings in Chitradurga at 12 PM and in Ramanagara at 6 PM,'' Rahul tweeted. 

As per his tweet, Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to meet the workers of the unorganised sectors in Devangere. This will be followed bh a meeting with traders.

The Congress president will hold a public meeting in Chitradurga at 12 pm and later visit the Siddaganga Mutt at Tumkur.

Following a reception at Tumkur, he will hold a meeting in Ramanagara around 6 pm.

Rahul Gandhi had arrived in Shimoga on Tuesday as part of his party's ongoing campaign for the poll-bound Karnataka which will go to polls next month. The Gandhi scion arrived in the city around 11.30 and held a roadshow here. 

Rahul Gandhi's visit to the city came days after BJP president Amit Shah held a grand roadshow here. 

Congress campaign committee chief DK Shiva Kumar had earlier hinted that Rahul Gandhi would return to Karnataka for four days over two trips on April 3-4 and April 7-8, focusing on the Bangalore region.

He started the fifth leg of his Karnataka campaign from Shimoga - the stronghold of BJP's chief ministerial candidate BS Yeddyurappa.

From where he travelled to Chitradurga. 

The Congress president is also due to visit Bangalore this week and hold a major rally.

With Congress determined to retain power in the southern state, Rahul Gandhi has been campaigning in the state very extensively. 

During his previous campaign across the state, Rahul has heaped praise on the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government here and attacked BJP on a wide range of issues including GST, note ban, Indian's killing in Iraq, CBSE papers leak and PNB scam etc.
