Smaller parties and independents can play a crucial role if the Karnataka Assembly election results throw up a hung house. In such a scenario the three major parties - Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress and Janata Dal Secular (JDS) - will woo them to have a shot at power. While the BJP and Congress are the main claimants to form the next government in Karnataka, the JDS too is claiming that it will secure a majority on its own.

The full list of candidates of smaller parties and independents who have won the Karnataka Assembly elections 2018 is given below. The list will be updated as and when results come in.

Voting was countermanded in Jayanagar after the BJP candidate and two-time MLA BN Vijayakumar suffered a heart attack and died while campaigning. The election dates will be announced later. In Rajarajeshwari Nagar seat polling was deferred to May 28 after almost 10,000 fake voter cards were recovered from a flat in the area. The result of Rajarajeshwari Nagar seat will be declared on May 31.

The state voted in a single phase on May 12 which saw a record voter turnout of 72.13 percent, the highest in the state Assembly elections since the first election in 1952. In the last elections, the Congress had won 122 seats while the BJP and JDS had secured 40 seats each. Smaller parties and independent candidates had secured 22 seats.
