Chikkodi registered 75.58 percent voter turnout in 2019, a gain of 1.01 percent. The total number of electors in the constituency is 1604483 while the total voter turnout is 1212691. While in 2014, the constituency registered 74.57 percent voter turnout. The total number of electors in the constituency was 1435510 while the total voter's turnout was 1070512.

In 2014 Lok Sabha election, Congress leader Prakash Babanna Hukkeri won the seat by a narrow margin of just 3003 votes. Prakash Babanna Hukkeri won bagged 474373 votes while his nearest rival Bharatiya Janata Party leader Ramesh Vishwanath Katti secured 471370 votes.
