New Delhi: Jammu and Kashmir's Sonamarg and Rajouri witnessed the season's first snowfall in the wee hours of Wednesday, thus bringing the temperature down to -3 degrees Celsius.

Temperature in other parts of North India will also be affected.

While Sonamarg received 3 inches of snowfall, the mountains of Pir Panjal in Rajouri have been blanketed with snow. Rainfall and lightening was also reported in Jammu region as well as Srinagar.

The snowfall has also blocked all movement on Kashmir valley's Mughal Road, which led to cars being stranded for a long time.

On Tuesday, the Regional Met Office had said that the rain and snowfall forecast in Jammu and Kashmir will help reduce the smog and pollution levels in Delhi and its adjoining areas.

According to Skymet weather, rainfall is also predicted in Haryana and Delhi on Thursday or Friday.
