SRINAGAR: The Jammu & Kashmir police has a request to mothers of all 'local terrorists'. "I would like to ask all mothers to appeal their children to leave arms and come back," said state Director general of police SP Vaid.

The statement comes three days after a 20-year-old footballer from Kashmir's Anantnag, who had joined the terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba, surrendered before security forces.

Earlier today, the Army and the JK police lashed out at local terrorists, questioning their ethics.

"It's easy to call yourself Mujahideen. But are you a Mujahideen or Pakistan's proxy," said General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 15 Corps Lt Gen J S Sandhu while addressing a conference on Bandipora encounter.

In a massive blow to Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorists, six top Pakistani commanders including Obaid, nephew of Mumbai attack mastermind Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi and the son of Jamat-ud-Dawa second-in-command Abdul Rehman Makki, were killed in the encounter yesterday.

"Local terrorists should have the wisdom to realise you are not the proxy of Pakistan," said Sandhu while asking them to work towards peace in the Kashmir Valley. "We leave it to local terrorists. If they come back, we will accept them with honour."
